Pulse Asia: Arroyo’s approval and trust ratings drop anew

PRESIDENT Arroyo’s approval and trust ratings have slid further, with 68 percent of Metro Manilans expressing disapproval of her performance and 72 percent saying they distrust her.

The latest Pulse Asia survey showed Metro Manilans expressing even greater distrust toward First Gentleman Jose “Mike” Miguel T. Arroyo (81 percent) and presidential son, Pampanga representative Juan Miguel Arroyo (74 percent). The Arroyo men have been accused of receiving payoffs from the illegal numbers game jueteng.

The poll was conducted from July 2 to 8, after the president’s June 27 public apology for her “lapse in judgment” for talking to an elections commissioner shortly after the May 2004 elections.

Other findings:

  • 80 percent believe that Mrs. Arroyo was involved in manipulating the vote count.
  • 58 percent think that the president should resign given that she admitted to having spoken to a Comelec official, 17 percent prefer that she focus more on state matters, 20 percent think she should let Congress address the issue, including impeachment, and 5 percent think she ought to take a leave to reflect on her mistake.
  • 87 percent think members in the president’s family are involved in and benefit from jueteng.
  • Vice President Noli L. de Castro’s disapproval rating has climbed to 43 percent and distrust rating to 45 percent.

To be fare to all, surveys should not only be conducted in Metro Manila. People in the provinces cries foul. Like election, the survey should be conducted fare and square. Not paid up by politicians.

Do Filipinos really care about the results of the survey, in the midst of the economic crisis and poverty, the human tendency is to make a living and make both ends meet for their families
If she made a “lapse of judgement”, and members of her family are “tainted with corruption” then resign out of respect for the position of presidency.
History will be kinder to her

a survey is only a survey. but it looks like mahilig ang noypi sa simplified version of searching for truth.
the sample population of the survey is so small that it can not give the pulse of the people.

As expected her approval ratings are going south. For me Luli arroyo made a very valid point when she said “Matuto na tayo, ang kailangan natin yung taong magdedesisyon ng mahirap pero kailangan, hinde porke’t maganda ka at magaling na actress e puede ka na presidente”. How does she expect the people to believe her Mom if she could’nt discern which is ethical and morally right by calling a comelec commisioner whom she appointed and who has a very tainted reputation, napaka simpleng desisyon lang naman wag mo tawagan di nya pa nagawa, ano pa kaya yung magdesisyon siya for 80million filipinos.

Kahit walang survey, the majority are tired of gloria including those in the provinces.Sa Visayas at Mindanao pa lang ang taas na ng unemployment rate, saan yung 1M at 6M jobs na pinangako nya? Di ba kasinungalingan? How much more this gloriagatescandal? lalo nya pang dinagdagan ang kanyang kasinungalingan.

Can we blame the masses of airing their sentiments? Some offer that they are manipulated by vested interest but i say it’s a crap. Will the masses survive with a minimum wage incorrectly paid against the increasing prices of commodities? Minimum fare at Php 7.50 ? A kilo of galonggong plays between Php 70 to 90 a kilo? A cup of cooked rice between Php 7 to 15? An internet rental of Php 25 an hour just to blog their sentiments against gloria?

gloria is suppressing the freedom of expression. No permit, no rally daw pero pag maka-gloria okey lang. Then you talk about AFP/PNP being neutral?

It’s about time to leave the comforts of our electric fan-dominated offices and join the rally at Ayala.

If we need to walk, let’s walk. If we get hungry then be it. May tubig pa namang pampamanhid ng sikmura.

Popularity does not necessarily mean competence.

Erap was a popular president but he was the most utterly incompetent.

Popularity means something only during election time. The only reason why popularity has become such a continuous and ubiquitous concern among chattering Pinoys is because we have become a nation of FIESTA REVOLUTION, where presidents can be arbitrarily removed from office ANY TIME by lynch mobs and text messages.

In TRUE democracies, what matters IN BETWEEN ELECTIONS (where real democracy REALLY happens) is the quality of the services dished out by their INSTITUTIONS.

Just keep our vigilance FOCUSED on ensuring that GMA keeps to her word of submitting herself to the impeachment processs (a.k.a. DUE PROCESS in case Filipinos need to be reminded) to account for her transgressions.

If it is shortcuts and instant results that we want, then let’s just revert back to a dictatorship — so that we can go back to the more efficient practice of throwing people into jail without having to sit through DUE PROCESS.

Politicians back track or move forward depending on public sentiment. It highlights the facts that:

(1) Nobody really knows what they are talking about; and,

(2) Actions are based on herd mentality rather than on issues and clear thinking.

The people in the Visayas and Mindanao are fed up with what the people in Manila have been doing against the government. It seems that the people in Manila are the only ones dictating the future of the country without even considering the voices of the people in the rest of the country.

If the people in Manila cannot follow the Constitution, then there is no more reason for us in the provinces to follow this Constitution. It might be a wise move to form and draft our own Constitution.

When Manila did not follow the Constitution in 2001, bakit di kayo nagalit? Dahil ba si ERAP kasi noon ang pintalsik (and I am assuming that you were ANTI-ERAP then) at samantalang ngayon e si GMA naman ang nasa bingit ng alanganin (and I am assuming also that you are PRO-GMA)?

Can you say the same thing if we go back to the events before Edsa 2? The case of Estrada fits your argument not Gloria .During the election of 2004 I was assigned in South Cotabato ( Tampakan Mining Area) and in the borders of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat and as far as the boundary od Davao del Norte coordinating with the locals. Majority of them the Christians, Moslems and the Lumads we talked to told our group that they would go for FPJ come election day. Then came the counting….zero votes for FPJ manipulated by the locals and corrupt elements of military. The question here is about morality and decency and not partisanship. The constitution is not also the problem, the problem is GMA

Just arrived from Mindanao and Visayas.

It is of no surprise that the sentiments of the people in those geographical areas against gloria were the same as that of Manila.

Their “only” problem : they cannot blog just like we do.

Sugarcane workers and dependents are slowly dying of hunger both in Negros and Iloilo. The Government at this very moment is still clueless where to find a market for the sugar produce.

But how about the “ethanol” thing that gloria thrumpeted a few weeks ago in San Carlos? Pure gimmick, I say. If one still remember the ALCO-GAS being marketed decades ago, then he/she will obviously know if there is a difference.

Ordinary wage earners in the said regions are still hoping that they will be paid right by their employers, who are also being made to face the prospect of bankruptcy.

Where is gloria then? where is her expertise? where is her promised reforms?

While I pay my taxes correctly at the national and local levels —whether I am in Manila,or in Visayas or in Mindanao for official business or family functions. I also expect the National Government as well as the local ones to deliver the basic goods and services as mandated upon by law including proper accountability and disclosure.

gloria miserably failed in her governace. Worst, she violated the constitution not only once but twice.Does it make manilans, visayans and mindanaoans, violators too ? Of course not.

If the people of manila are exercising their constitutional right to free expression including the right to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances, are they not following the organic law? Thus, It is not only erroneous too for some,if not sheer ignorance, to generalise that the people in Manila cannot comprehend the basic mandate of the organic law.

It is also preposterous for Duterte and Dominguez to generalise the sentiments of Mindanaoans in the same vain as what some politicians have done in behalf of the Visayan people.

To them I say : Hear the voices of your people first before you speak.

Lahat ng pagtitipid ginagawa ko para suportahan ang sarili ko, pamilya ko at ang bansang to. Ni hindi ako makabili ng chicken and spaghetti meal sa Jollibee kahit gutom na gutom na ko. Nag-tya-tyaga ako sa waffle na tig-P10, o kaya pag may konting pera, junior bola-bola siopao sa Mini-Stop sa halangang P20.

Eh kung yung pera ko na pinapangbabayad sa tax sa kin na lang napunta, eh di sana nakakapanood pa ko ng sine at least 2 beses sa isang buwan. Nakabili na sana ako ng bagong rubber shoes. Nakapagpagawa na sana ako ng sarili kong
bahay.

Yung tax na binabayad ko, pinapangsuporta sa mga mahihirap. Saan ba galing ang pera pangpagawa ng housing at pagtulong sa mga mahihirap, di ba sa mga manggagawa na nagbabayad ng buwis! Pero karamihan ng mahihirap, kung umasta kala mo inaapi sila ng sobra.

SA TOTOO LANG NO, KAYA ANG MGA MAHIHIRAP LALONG NAGHIHIRAP KASI MGA TAMAD!

* Ran for Mayor in Masbate under Reforma in the 2004 elections and lost.

* Known in Bicol to have engaged in all possible illegal activities and to be “close” to generals previously assigned in the Bicol region. The staff of known hotels in Bicol would know this.

* Reportedly a lover of Governor Tony Kho

* linked to several election-related incidents, including dynamiting houses of political opponents, kidnapping and murder.

* In her testimony before the Senate, Cam admitted to being a supporter of Governor Tony Kho, who has been charged with masterminding the killing of Representative Tito Espinosa. The case is still pending in court.

4. Archbishop Oscar Cruz

* Says that it is his personal advocacy to stop Jueteng

* His name never came out during the 2000 impeachment trial where jueteng was a key issue.
If it is the archbishop’s personal advocacy to stop jueteng,why is it only now that Archbishop Cruz is coming out with all these witnesses and accusations ?

* Previously hugged the headlines when he accused Pagcor chairman Efraim Genuino of using female employees of Pagcor as GRO’s or Guest Relations Officer during a birthday celebration of

* He initially claimed to be the source of the audio tape

* Known to be a former lawyer of Erap and reportedly gets a monthly salary of 1 Million pesos a month from the detained former president.

* License as a lawyer was suspended by the Supreme Court

* His credibility and background was being questioned; and more critical, was his own admission that he made the annotation and thereby tampered with the original audio tape.

6. Samuel Ong

* Former NBI deputy director
* Came out on National TV on June 10 and claimed that he was the source of the original copy of the audio tape and that it was given to him by an Intelligence official (ISAFP) who was later
identified as Tech. Sgt. Vidal Doble. Doble claims that he was offered 2 Million pesos and his family was threatened by Ong.

* Ong had often organized mass actions to support his ambition to be director of the NBI.

* During the NBI investigation of the Dacer-Corbito murder case, the principal suspect Superintendent Teofilo Vina who could link Ping Lacson to the case was killed in Cavite in January 1993. It is known that Ong who was still influential then as deputy director
had a hand in this to get Lacson of the hook. During the 2004 elections, he was ordered by Lacson to join the FPJ camp to serve as Lacson’s eyes and ears.

- AND AFTER ONG WAS BYPASSED BY ARROYO FOR THE TOP NBI POST and chose Wycoco instead.

* He said that he fears for his life. One would wonder how these words would come fro m a person who once aspired to be an NBI director. He chose a career in the National Bureau of Investigation that entails agents to confront death threats on a daily basis. Was the media
presentation, with Ong almost crying out of fear for his life and character actor Rez Cortez beside him a mere “sarzuela”.

WE SHOULD TAKE NOTE THAT SINCE PGMA BECAME PRESIDENT, THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A CASE OF AN EXECUTION OR PROLONGED INCARCERATION OF ANY OF HER CIVILIAN CRITICS INSPITE OF THE FACT THAT A LOT THESE CRITICS HAVE GONE OVERBOARD.

* Media’s so called electronics and communications expert who initially said that the audio tapes were authentic and not tampered. What audio tape was he referring to when Paguia’s version was (according to Paguia himself) recorded with annotation and thus was tampered. The other “so-called original” version was only released by Ong on June 10, 2004.

* resigned from then majority party when the envelope containing the Jose Velarde account was not allowed to be opened by majority of senate members.

* Held the Microphone during PGMA’s oath taking at Edsa 2.

* Went back to criticizing PGMA when he was not chosen as Vice President after EDSA 2.

* His No. 1 soldier is his long time ally in PDP Laban - Mayor Jejomar Binay. During EDSA 2, Binay brought in the goons to intimidate protesters from the business community in Makati.
Since then, Makati has been the site of destabilization attempts against PGMA namely the Coup/Mutiny in Oakwood and their planned EDSA 4 in San Carlos last June 11. Binay was one of the first people seen in San Carlos Seminary.

* Still has ambitions to be president.

* He once said that he despised and he never wants to be a politician.

* He is on his 2nd term as senator and he ran for president during the 2004 elections

Mr. Allen Macasaet, Owner of Abante, reportedly has been receiving 5 million pesos a month from Ping Lacson since 2003 . 37 year old Allen Macasaet, lives in posh Ayala Alabang and reportedly owns a Ferrari(worth 12 Million), a BMW 9 series (worth 11Million), a Porsche 911 (worth 10 Million), a Jaguar (worth 8 million), a Range Rover(worth 9 million), two Chevrolet Suburbans (worth 2.5 Million each), a Ford E150 Chateau Van, and a Honda Accord - all purchased brand new. Perhaps,his neighbors in Ayala Alabang can attest to Mr.Allen Macasaet’s ownership of these luxury vehicles. NO WONDER 95% OF ABANTE HEADLINES IS ANTI-PGMA. And what a good choice of newspaper… masang masa… could readily reach millions of ordinary filipinos.

* Now comes the Million Dollar Question ???? Where does Senator Ping Lacson (who boasts that he does not get his PhP 200 Million a year “pork barrel fund) get funding to finance a successful
senate campaign, a decent but unsuccessful presidential campaign, and still afford a very generous media payola ???

* He has been linked to kidnap-for-ransom of rich Fil-Chinese nationals, illegal drug trafficking, Kuratong-Baleleng massacre, Dacer-Corbito slay.

* In 1993, Ping Lacson reportedly was getting the biggest monthly payola from jueteng lord and convicted rapist-murderer Mayor Antonio Sanchez of Calauan, Laguna. Thus, the attempt to cover-up Mayor Sanchez’s crime by initially pointing to Kit Alqueza, son of general Dictador Alqueza, as the mastermind of the celebrated rape-slay of Aileen Sarmenta and boyfriend Allan Gomez. Ping Lacson was then head of PACC who presented the young Kit Alqueza to then vice-president Erap Estrada and media.

* Ping Lacson has had access to suppliers of wire-tapping devices as early as his PACC days. During a raid of the CIDG after EDSA 2, wire-tapping devices purchased during Ping Lacson’s term as PNP chief were confiscated from camp crame and stored in CIDG’s warehouse. Said confiscated devices remain stored in the CIDG warehouse until this day.

* With his seemingly infinite monetary resources and political clout as 2nd termer senator, it is highly probable that Ping Lacson himself owns the latest model of wire-tapping/ bugging devices.

* Even with the exposure of his links to people behind the audio tape, he was still the one who had the tape authenticated by a private australian firm.

* He came out with the results from the Australian firm on the night Friday, June 10. How could he have gotten a copy of the original when Sammy Ong (who claims to be acting on his own and says he does not know Ping Lacson)only surfaced with the so-called original copy on the afternoon of June 10? The previously claimed original was the annotated and tampered version
of Alan Paguia.

* Ping Lacson’s former men in the PACC that could implicate him in his criminal activities are either dead (Supt. John Campos, Supt. Teofilo Vina, Kit Mateo) or hiding in the US ( Michael Ray Aquino and Cesar Mancao). Lacson quickly points to his enemies as behind the execution of his
former trusted aides. If this allegation were true, why would Lacson’s enemies target his men instead of killing him (Lacson). Who ordered the execution and hiding of his former men before the May 2004 elections to make sure that no one could directly implicate Lacson in his criminal
activities. Perhaps Samuel Ong should fear Lacson as Ong is also a person who could implicate Lacson in the present destabilization moves.

* After the 2004 elections, Ping Lacson became supportive of PGMA’s government and even did not join the opposition’s protest actions during FPJ’s wake. He believed then that if he behaved this way, he would be a sure bet for President come 2010. However, he again started to be PGMA’s biggest critic recently. Perhaps PGMA’s illegal drugs campaign which has closed down the most number of Shabu Laboratories in recent years and anti-kidnapping campaign is already affecting Lacson’s treasure chest and he fears that by 2010, his funds would not be enough to run a successful presidential campaign against a popular Mar Roxas.

10. Erap, Jinggoy, Loi and JV Ejercito
* They clearly want one thing : to exact revenge on PGMA

* This is very evident at how Senator Jinggoy and Loi have been grandstanding during the senate inquiry on jueteng.

* Senator Jinggoy and San Juan Mayor JV Ejercito were one of the first people to join Sammy Ong ( who said that he was acting on his own and the he was calling on Ms. Susan Roces to join him) in San Jose Seminary. They were interviewed over ANC and both Jinggoy and JV
attacked PGMA and repeatedly said that the opposition had an executive committee, with ERAP as ex-officio chairman, that was ready to replace the administration in case we are “miraculously swept into power”..

- Boracay mansion?, Rest house in Rizal? Laarni Estate?, Couple thousand pesos worth of wine consumed by Erap daily?, extravagant and lavish lifestyle of Estradas? Luxury cars, Vans, Resorts, owned by them? Ganon ba kaguapo at kaganda ang katawan para maging action star si Jinggoy para kumita ng milyon milyon sa pelikula? Erap’s endless womanizing, morals, gambling, whose only legit earnings mostly came from showbiz? against an already known rich
family of the Tuasons and Arroyo’s? - Who’s probably more corrupt? Why not attack PGMA directly? Coz they can’t see any reason to attack? So they go attacking PGMA’s family coz they don’t know how to attack PGMA.

We Filipinos should investigate further why key people coming out with all these accusations and calls on PGMA to step down have in one way or the other been linked to leaders in the opposition like Ping Lacson or Erap. We should not take everything that media comes out with as absolute truths since it is already our country’s future that is being threatened by these people. During the wake of FPJ last year, it was already reported that the opposition was hatching a plan to bring down the Arroyo administration.

The opposition clearly wanted to use FPJ’s death to bring down PGMA. Susan Roces herself mentioned to a confidant during the wake that some opposition leaders then were convincing her to lead them in bringing down PGMA. If indeed the opposition had in its possession the audio tape that they claim to be a phone conversation made immediately after the May 2004
elections between PGMA and Comelec Commissioner Garcilliano, why did they not come out with the audio tape during the wake or burial of FPJ when millions of FPJ mourners were out on the streets ?

It could have easily resulted to an early end to the Arroyo administration. Perhaps they were still working on the tape with their “expert engineers” during that time.

The people behind the efforts to bring down PGMA have not succeeded in spite of the desperate moves they have made primarily because they have never been united. They have several leaders who all want to be acknowledged as the legitimate and the unanimous opposition leader.
There is Erap and his families who want to regain lost glory and power; there is a Ping Lacson who despises politicians and yet desperately aims to be president; and there is Nene Pimentel who still dreams of becoming president which he hopes would happen before his eye bags cover his face. All these destabilization moves is a result of the individual aspirations of these people to grab power.

Susan Roces has experienced this when the opposition could not even unite behind a strong FPJ during the 2004 elections. She experienced this during her husband’s wake and burial when public sympathy was there but again the opposition was not united. She experienced this
during the opposition’s planned call for an EDSA 4 last June 11 when according to her confidant, the opposition were still fighting among themselves even during the early hours of June 11 on what moves to take. At around 2:30 am of June 11, Senator Ping Lacson, Senator
Jinggoy Estrada, Senator Serge Osmeï?½a, Senator Jamby Madrigal and Mayor Binay were in Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati discussing their next steps but still arguing on the details as well as to who would be their leader when they succeed in bringing down PGMA. Susan Roces
was supposed to call for their supporters to March to the streets. According to her confidant, Susan Roces just decided to call for sobriety and just manifest her moral support for Sammy Ong out of disgust over the opposition’s squabbling. The opposition’s plan for another EDSA did not and will not succeed because the people know the opposition’s motives. Of the many witnesses paraded in the Senate Inquiry and media, not a single person would pass as a “credible witness”.

And why even calls for NOLI to resign also? Is Loren, who was teary eyed over the siding of Pimentel to the then opposition more popular to the masses, considering she was even rejected by the masses and even the opposition themselves when she decided to run as FPJ’s running mate (since GMA could not really choose another woman as running mate?)? Do you honestly think also that Noli cheated Loren? Oh, C’mon!

Who is their alternative? Who should lead us then? Angara and Lacson can’t unify… Pimentel and Enrile are also at odds… Abat? Lumbao? Bayan Muna? and other left wing party groups
who were present during toppling of ERAP? It seems like they are against every president. Just recently, they went on a presscon with the ESTRADAS joined hands? Is that what you
call unity?

According to the UP College of Psychology, the typical characteristics of a CREDIBLE WITNESS are :

1) The witness is close to the person being accused

* A good example given by the UP College of Psychology is Governor Chavit Singson who was part of Erap’s inner circle or “midnight cabinet”. He was very close to the Erap and practically knew the day-to-day activities of the former president which made him a credible witness in the impeachment trial.

2) The witness has an untainted moral background

* A good example given by the UP College of Psychology was Clarissa Ocampo who testified that Erap signed the name Jose Velarde in front of her. Clarissa Ocampo was then Vice President of Equitable-PCI Bank with an unblemished record of integrity and professionalism.

Now, lets say for instance that it is infact PGMA in the tapes, and it is Garcillano that she was talking to, MERON BA SIYANG SINABING MANDAYA!?! MERON BA SIYANG SINABING IBAHIN ANG RESULTA?

MERON BA SIYANG SINABING DAGDAGAN ANG BOTO NIYA? MERON BA SIYANG SINABING SIGURUHIN ANG PAGKAPANALO NIYA? It is very clear… SHE WAS ASKING QUESTIONS ANY POLITICIAN WOULD. And do you honestly think that none of the opposition candidates talked to commissioners, regional directors of the COMELEC to ask their standing? or to assess what was happening? PGMA merely asked if she was gonna still lead a million if so and so… and that if Biazon loses in an area, so and so… They we questions. NOT DIRECTIVES.

MAYBE IF THE OPPOSITION ARE NOT SO HUNGRY FOR POWER AND UNITED. MAYBE IF PING BRO EDDIE ETC ALL GAVE WAY TO FPJ… MANINIWALA PA TAYONG NANDAYA NGA SI PGMA…MAYBE IF ALL AND I SAY ALL OF THE SURVEYS PRIOR TO ELECTION TIME DID NOT
SAY PGMA WOULD DEFINITELY WIN, close but statistically significant lead.

MAYBE IF FPJ ANSWERED ALL INTERVIEW QUESTIONS DURING THE CAMPAIGN, ATTENDED DEBATES, ETC SO FILIPINOS WOULD KNOW HIS PLATFORM…

BUT EVEN IF YOU PUT ALL VOTES TO FPJ FOR ALL THE PRECINTS ELECTION RETURNS THE OPPOSITION WANTED TO BE OPENED DURING THE CANVASSING AND ZERO TO PGMA, PGMA WOULD STILL WIN BY 600T. AND NOW THEYRE SAYING “DI SILA PINAGBIGYAN NA MABUKSAN ANG MGA BALOTA”. Coz all they wanted was for congress NOT TO BE ABLE TO PROCLAIM a PRESIDENT by the 30th of JUNE when it should have so that everything would be in limbo since congress was already adjourned “SINE DIE”.

SO WHO REALLY WON? BRO. EDDIE WHO SAYS there were 2MILLION during his preelection rally? Roco who did not have a machinery? Lacson and FPJ whose votes were divided? Im glad that I finally found a group where most people share the same sentiments that I have. Junkadz, Timawang_batas, Chichiro, F1, Butsukoy, Masha, saludo ako sa inyo, you speak your minds very well. You were able to express the things that have been bothering me all along. On an economic standpoint the Masa (including the farm sector) has an equal weight and importance as to those needs of the middle class. In fact addressing the needs of the majority poor should be the primodal objective of the government and while doing that it would spur economic activity.

The economic growth of this country would greatly depend on the improvement of the living standard of the popular mass. The business elite and those in the Middle class sector are wrong to assume that they are the economic savor of this country. If we follow the argument and mentality of the few taxpayers-middleclass then that would be a hindrance to our economic growth (i.e. the middle-class would normally sneer to a pro-poor, pro-masa president).

Economic (journal) research concludes that the poor (including farm sector) are “Rational” when it comes to consumption and investments. Yes, my dear yuppies, the poor are rational investors just like the guy in barong or suits in Makati.

A mid-management guy who participate in the stock market (but would pretend that he understand the market itself and thus qualifying him a non-gambler and prefer to be called as speculator cum long-term investor) is no more risk averse (or risk taker) than a guy that would bet in Jueteng.

In terms of consumption and expenditure - look at CHINA for crying out loud. Do I have to explain that also to those educated / taxpayer who don’t want to participate in the GLORIA resign rally kasi panay jologs daw ang nanduon. Well baka nga kailangan explain sa kanila kasi yung; “Hello!! Garci!” and “yung, dagdag,yung dagdag” eh hinde nila ma-gets.

Simple lang carping pinoy, kasi hindi lang naman talino ang sagot para umaasenso, but moral integrity. Dean’s lister ka nga sa Georgetown, wala ka namang alam kungdi mandaya at manlamang ng kapwa pano ka aasenso.

Ang dapat eh mabago ang kulturang pinoy na katulad ng katamadan, mahilig sa lagay at palakasan.

tingin ko naman kaya wala tayong asenso ay dahil walang respeto sa batas at mga patakaran ang mga tao at nangunguna na ang mga maykaya at mga nasa poder. this gives a bad precedent to everybody that the laws can be flouted. the result is walang disiplina. everybody thinks they can be an exception to the rule. pag nahuli puro pakiusap at kamot ulo. pag may ginawang mali, panindigan dapat. also, itong mga cabinet secretaries na pinangungunahan ni angelo reyes at raul gonzales, ay gumagamit ng wangwang para mauna sa mga tao sa daan. kahit si davide na 5 ang plaka ay di gumagamit nun. ang ginagawa nya ay umaalis siya ng maaga kaya 6:30am pa lang ay nasa office na siya.

ang pinoy na naninirahan abroad ay usually umaasenso dahil sa pagrespeto sa patakaran ng at nirerespeto ang mga patakaran sa bansang kanyang tinitirahan.

the reason why the poor are rational consumers is that they buy only the things they need for survival as those are the things they can afford. when your take is just enough to meet things ends, chances are you’ll make it a point that everything you buy will be worth the price you’ll pay…

china is like that and mind you, the laborers there are paid below what is perceived as minimum wage…they cannot complain (or they do it in private) because of the scarcity of jobs and the availability of new warm bodies who could easily take their place in case they fall short…the cheap labor they have attracts investors the most…

what’s ironic is that they are not as free as we are, they cannot send govt hitting blogs like we do and yet they prosper, at least to the news we read…news of human rights violations is quite high as well, though…

while i’m not advocating their form of govt, their discipline, hardwork and survival instincts did wonders for them…

If GMA has ‘image-maker’ in the person of Lupita Kashiwahara, she has also a lot of ‘image-destroyer’ in the persons of Raul Gonzales, Mike Defensor, Ignacio Bunye and Chavit Singson, Mike,Mikey and Iggy Arroyo to name a few.

If she is really sincere to purge her surrounding of undesirable individuals, then it is about time for her to
kick these people out of her sight.

And one of them as I mentioned is this guy Raul. He doesn’t help the president to survive. In fact he contibutes a lot to make her image not so very nice. He contributes a lot to her downfall. He is one of the reasons why GMA’s rating is very very low. He is one of the most undesirable if not the most undesirable persons that surround her.

If I were Gloria, I’ll kick him out before he gives a lot of damage on her credibility. And I’ll kick all these people I mentioned to show to the people that she is really serious to implement reforms.

Anyway, on top of what you said about China, China is a humungous whopping nation of consumer. The money / investment is there not only of the cheap labor but also their appetite to consume (translated in numbers). Sa Pilipinas, a majority of our population which they called the Masa are in some retrospect a huge consumer base. By Improving their life by giving job, infrastrcuture, finance, and education we create a new set of middle class. But even if they don’t achieve middle class status yet they are still consumers. Kaya nauso yung mga tingi, like cigarillo and the sachet na shampoo.

I think by summarily dismissing their ideals and voices we end up ignoring their importance and tend to downplay their relevance in our political system. We always hear from the business sector and from the white collar workers make fun of them the Masa during rallies, during election (for voting Erap and FPJ), and for even making opinion. On the ethical ground, kaya siguro GMA thought that she can get away by a mere “sorry” to the current audio tape scandal. Mukhang minaliit nya ang kakayahan ng mga mahihirap. The point is we need leaders who can address the broad spectrum of our society – address the needs of the middle class by addressing the needs of the poor (paano kaya iyun?).

In any case, if GMA argues that she should remain indignant and should not resign because the country needs her (economic expertise, I would presume but definitely not moral guidance) then she is in a losing proposition.

With or Without GMA, Filipnos will still CONSUME food (lucky me, pan de sal, rc cola, diet coke, C2, rice, ludy’s peanut butter, fried chicken, balut, ice cream, tuyo, banana cue, tanduay etc…); BUY Consumer items (happee toothpaste, papaya soap, detergent, shampoo, trust, biogesic etc..); ACQUIRE the help of Professional / personal Services (physician, albularyo, barbers, beautician, banking, insurance, atm, cellphone repairman, massage etc..); Make USE of Infrastructure (telecom, cell phone, tv / internet cable, NLEX, SLEX, electricity, water, airport, housing etc…); AVAIL of Government Services (permits, SSS, birth certificate, etc.), all these translate to money. Hence, even though the “Poor” or the Masa does not pay taxes they are a major participant in the general dynamics of our economy.

Bukas yata tuloy ang rally ng mga pro GMA sa grandstand,kaya ating abangan ang bagong pakulo ng gobyernong Arroyo.Sana maging maganda ang buhos ng tao para malaman natin ang mga perang ipapamudmod nila bukas.Kaya mga pare punta kayo at malaki yata ang bigayan ng mga pupunta doon sa rally bukas.Sayang ang makukuha nating kopnting barya para makatulong namanntutal lahat galing naman sa ninakaw ng mga sipsip na official ni Gloria at ang pamilia niya,lalo na si Mike at Mikey,Igi lahat sila yumaman at tayo naman ay naghirap sa buhay.

GMA’s trust rating have no way to go but down. She is blaming everybody for her trust rating except herself. Her cronies doesn’t want to hear the meaning of what Garcillano was telling GMA. Even if she is impeach which I doubt, she won’t be found guilty. She is willing to spend the people’s money to make sure that she survives this crisis. She has already release or due to release 600M for his cronie’s constituents. I wonder if this funds will really go to the poor people in the province who might not be aware of it or to the governors who will make sure that the people - except their cronies - will not hear about it.

Hours after releasing the results of a new survey
showing President Arroyo to be the least acceptable
leader, the website of survey firm Pulse Asia was
knocked offline.

The Pulse Asia website (http://pulseasia.newsmaker.ph)
remained inaccessible to Internet users from Tuesday
evening up to mid-morning of Wednesday.

No explanation was given on why the website was
offline, though political observers said the results
of the firm’s recent surveys have been unfavorable to
Malacañang.

The latest survey polled 300 residents in Metro Manila
from July 2 to 8, and indicated Sen. Panfilo Lacson is
the best choice to replace Arroyo.

Some 36 percent of respondents believed Lacson is the
best choice, followed by vice president Noli de Castro
at 15 percent. Former President Joseph Estrada was
third with eight percent, while Susan Roces and Arroyo
are tied at seven percent. Chief justice Hilario
Davide Jr. and former president Fidel Ramos were fifth
at four percent.

About 25 percent said Arroyo is not acceptable to lead
the nation, followed by Fortunato Abat (17 percent),
de Castro (12 percent), Davide (11 percent), Estrada
(9 percent), Roces (6 percent) and Lacson (5 percent).

Some 41 percent believe a snap election, the
resignation of Arroyo, or her impeachment, is the best
thing that can happen.

Last July 1, Pulse Asia came out with a survey
indicating that 61 percent of respondents favored life
without Arroyo. A week later, it came out with
another survey showing 85 percent of residents in
Metro Manila wants Arroyo impeached over the
Gloriagate scandal.

This prompted Malacañang to blast away at survey
firms, saying they should try their surveys in Visayas
and Mindanao where it said Arroyo enjoys much support.

It was not the first time that media outlets critical
of Malacañang were harassed or shut down for a time.

Iglesia ni Cristo-run radio station dzEC had been
jammed several times in recent months, while Malaya, a
critical newspaper, had its website vandalized last
month.
