people power to defend gov’t

FEWER Filipinos would use people power to defend the current administration from danger compared to 20 years ago, the Social Weather Stations said.

The SWS’s December 2005 survey showed that only 42 percent said they were ready to “show the strength of people power if it is necessary to defend President Arroyo’s government from danger.”

In its March and October 1987 polls, the national percentages ready to use people power to defend the Aquino government stood at 74 percent and 62 percent.

The SWS released the findings as the country commemorates the 20th year of the first people power revolution.

okay…what i meant was that she has resorted to means that has a semblance to what marcos did…CPR, EO 464, and now this psedo proclamation of a martial law…the past presidents didn’t resort to such proclamations or EOs but Gloria did and now we are slowly witnessing the start of a gradual take-over of some of our liberties: feedom of speech, assembly, press-freedom…

Ibig mong sabihin kailangan mong interviewhin lahat ng Pilipino para malaman ang true sentiments nila?

Bago niyo siraan ang SWS, mag-aral muna kayo ng methodologies na ginagamit sa paggawa ng survey. Magbasa kayo ng tungkol sa sampling at number of respondents na kailangan para makakuha ng reliable result.

Ikaw ata ang nag-iisip na may monopolyo ka sa katotohanan eh. Kung magsalita ka ay parang mas magaling ka pa sa mga taga SWS na ilang taon nang ginagawa ang trabaho nila. Kailangan accurate ang mga resulta ng pag-aaral ng SWS dahil kailangan nila ng kredibilidad. Kundi mawawalan sila ng kliyente gaya ng researchers at lalo na yung mga pribadong kompanya na nagpapa-marketing research.

Anong tinatanong mo sa akin? Kung may kakilala ba akong isa sa 1,200 na nainterview? O kung sa Metro Manila man, kung may kakilala ba akong 1 sa 300 na nainterview? Hindi mo ata alam na 84 million na ang populasyon ng Pilipinas. Ano kayang probability na magkaroon ako ng kakilala sa 1200 respondents na ito? O sa 300 dahil ako’y nasa Metro Manila?

Pare ko, hindi nga si Gloria lang ang problema ng Pilipinas. Pero maraming malulutas na problema kapag wala na si Gloria.

Mababalik ang demokrasya at mailalagay sa pwesto ang taong pinagkakatiwalaan ng mas nakararami. Hindi kagaya ngayon na nagtitiis ang mga tao sa hirap ng buhay dahil sa mga maka-elitista at maka-dayuhang mga patakaran ni Gloria gaya ng EVAT at Mining Act.

Mapaparusahan ang mga mapang-abuso sa kapangyarihan at mga corrupt sa gobyerno. Nuff said!

Ayun na! Lumabas na sa bibig mong wala ka talagang alam sa sampling. Ang sagot ko sa tanong mo ay isang malaking OO! Depende sa kung anong methodologies ang ginamit mo. Alam mo ba kung ilan at paano kumuha ng samples na magiging accurate representative ng isang population? Alam mo ba kung para saan ang +/- x% margin of error?

Ano ba ang reliable sample size sayo? 10%? So kung 84 million ang populasyon ng Pilipinas, kailangan mong mag-interview ng 8.4 million na tao para maging reliable?

Magbasa ka nga ng libro tungkol sa sampling!

Tinanong mo pa sakin kung anong problema eh ang linaw linaw. Si Gloria! Sino bang nagpapatupad ng EVAT? Sino bang nagsusulong ng Mining Act? Sino bang nagpapapasok ng mga smuggled products sa bansa kaya nalulugi ang maliliit na negosyo? Walang iba kundi si Gloria! Gusto ba ito ng mga tao? Binoto ba siya ng mga tao para gawin ang mga ito? Konting gamit naman ng utak utoy!!!

Hmmm, ano nga ba reliable sample size sayo? so kung pinapalabas mo na credible ang survey bakit pa kailangan ng eleksyon? bakit di na lang tayo mag survey kung sino ang dapat maging pangulo para mas makatipid? di ko na lang pagaaksayahan ng panahon magbasa ng sampling..sasang ayon na lang ako sa sinasabi mo.

Wala akong sinabing palitan na ng survey ang eleksyon. Nasa demokrasya tayo. Bawat tao may boses. Mayaman ka o mahirap ang isang balota mo, katumbas ay isang boto.

Hindi pwede palitan ng survey ang eleksyon dahil bawat Pilipino ay may karapatan magkaroon ng public participation sa national concerns gaya ng pagpili ng pinuno.
