Untouchable po ba sila cory at danding at hindi magawang batikusin ng media about these two massacres?
  • hopeless_race : Its sad that we pinoys are blind to the fact of what had happened in mendiola and hacienda luisita.

  • guest_3664 : i would be glad if u can include the investigation of the manner public officials announce infra projects as per COA regulation. It is frustrating to see their faces on the tarpaulin instead of the prescribed information like name of project, date of implementation, amount of contract, source/s of fund, among other things. This is very rampant here in Marikina. Thanks and more power on your noble endeavors. We need people like you to have make our country great again.

FVR on emergency declaration: “overkill”

Posted by: Vinia Datinguinoo | February 25, 2006 at 11:38 am
Filed under: In the News, State of Emergency

FORMER president Fidel Ramos says Proclamation No. 1017 is an overkill reaction to the threats being faced by Malacañang.

"It’s an overkill," Ramos said in an interview with ANC this morning. "And I emphasize the kill there." He asked, "Why can’t she be like Cory, who was cool under fire?" Ramos referred to the several coup attempts against the Aquino presidency.

At the most, he said, what the Arroyo government uncovered yesterday was a "coup plot, not an attempt." "Why is everybody in Malacañang panicky? It’s unfair to the people."

Ramos said he was "surprised, appalled, dismayed" about the proclamation.

He said he hopes the administration will immediately issue implementing rules and regulations to clarify what he called "the broad guidelines and legal mysteries" brought about by the proclamation. This is important, he said, so that both the armed forces and the civilian population will understand the limits of the declaration. The president must also make a clear pronouncement "about how long this will persist as an emergency," Ramos said.

Following the president’s declaration yesterday morning, rallies through Edsa and other areas were met harshly by the police, with several organizers picked up for questioning; this morning, the office of the newspaper The Daily Tribune was raided by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group. (The PNP spokesperson later told the media he had yet to receive an official report from the CIDG regarding the raid.)

In quite a jovial mood during the interview, Ramos did not mince words, retelling attempts by the president’s allies for him to come to the Palace yesterday and join them. "They wanted me to come, but no, no, not this time. I saw myself again as being used as a prop."

Asked if he personally feels threatened by the declaration of a state of emergency, Ramos quipped, "I’m not feeling threatened. Senior citizens are usually not scared of anything."

He scolded the president for cancelling the scheduled programs for today’s anniversary of the fall of Marcos. "Of course I’m happy, because I wouldn’t have to give a speech anymore and maybe then play golf after this interview. But I think she’s killing the spirit of Edsa."

People Power, EDSA, whatever you want to call it, it was a failure. People Power turned out to be a pointless soap opera or a game show…Pilipinas, Game Ka Na Ba? What’s to celebrate, 20 years na katarantaduhan at kaguluhan?

Alright Gloria, we’re back in business. Here’s my suggestion. If you really want the legitimacy of your leadership, then declare Martial Law. As long as your true concerns are for the economy and long-term prosperity, then do it. Don’t be afraid to strike or they will.

this is my personal take on EDSA celebration:
PEOPLE POWER was borne out of the efforts of the people who have dreamt of having a society conducive to peace and progress for its people. The people were not wrong at that time…it is just right to overthrow a dictator.
It is the GOVERNMENT LEADERS and OLIGARCHIC families who betrayed the Filipinos and taken them for a ride. Instead of executing and fully implementing policies to uplift the plight of the majority, they embraced hook, line and sinker the greedy, sinister and corrupt ways of the old traditional politicians and old elites.
GMA was the greatest and biggest disappointment and disillusinment that we, the freedom-loving and reform-minded Filipinos, had trusted the country, along with its 85 million people, with. With her pedigree, educational background and the manner by which she was catapulted into office, she could have made a big difference and tremendous moral impact in our political and social climate. but she chose to thread the path of the old ways—even having the temerity to justify her sin and omission by saying that, well…anyway everybody is corrupt and she is just a player in the system….etc.
under is an outline of scandals and issues rocking her office upon assuming the presidency:
1) IMPSA deal - Jimenez, Perez, et. al
2) Vicky Toh caper - Defensor a big character in the melo-drama using gov’t resources - Mahusay, et. al
3) Prosecution of Erap did not prosper - she has no moral suasion to pursue because she’s also guilty of the same crimes
4) Acsa Ramirez blunder- instead of recognizing Acsa for her honesty, she was convicted and humiliated by publicity by no less than the president. (maybe…this is a veiled threat for those who will do the same thing because of larger sums of money that will eventually disappear in gov’t coffers come election time)
5) Majority of government appointees came from the military–why? is she trying to consolidate an absolute hold on power and for what reason? we may be realizing now that she have a need for them after all
6) Bolante caper, re-stolen marcos wealth…etc, etc.billions of funds missing or unliquidated
7) Bankrupt gov’t institution –why the importance of E-VAT?
8) Family connection in big time smuggling and jueteng largesse surpassing the alleged estrada takes
but maybe…the biggest disappointment are the character, and profiles of personalities we elect in office ( maybe…cheated their way into one). who perpetually mouthed inanities, illogical reasoning, immature bickerings and immoral partisan lines because they materially, financially benefit from them. intelligent individuals who would rather take the moronic stance for personal enrichment and power posturings.

“It’s an overkill,” Ramos said in an interview with ANC this morning. Ramos said he was “surprised, appalled, dismayed” about the proclamation
………………………………………..
MR Fedil V. Ramos, whatever you call it, it is overkill, excessive force or else, It’s it better to do something to thwart this evil effort exerted by these rogue soldiers and satanic intentions of the opposition than to sit there and wait until got faded. The President want to show to these opportunistic individuals the teeth of our existing laws. You cannot compare Gloria with Cory, Gloria is much capable of running a country than Cory. We have seen and we have experienced how badly Cory ran the country before, anyway she is only a replacement to his husband.

These rogue soldiers specially Gringo Honasan only shows his cowardice, since he will only attempt his adventurism to a Lady President, this guy didn’t even try to bother you(FVR) when you became a President, not even once and even a single rumor, maybe I’m wrong.

Mr former President(FVR), why is it necessary for you to broadcast your comments to the current President, when you can call her and give her some piece of advice. What are your intensions? Are you trying to add more fuel to the burning flame? Why can’t you tell the people, to be calm and to be peaceful enough, to prevent escalating tensions, when your voice still commands a strong respect to the Filipinos.

Lastly can you discipline these rouge soldiers or if you can extend it to these power hungry, greedy oppositions?

What’s the difference betweem a “freedom-loving” adult, and a freedom-loving “CHILD”.

A whole world of difference.

Guess what category Pinoys fit into in the above metaphor?

Most will probably guess right.

So maybe everyone should just sober up and take their spanking like a man (ironic, considering a woman is dishing it out to the so-called “macho” Pinoy society). ha ha!

Look back to the last 20 years and think of what Pinoys spent their energies on… Fiesta Revolution, Fiesta Politics, and Fiesta Reproduction.

We know how she reacted too with the late Louie Beltran after the coup, Fidel. It was a classic example of overkill too.

why, bernardocarpio. what did cory do to louie beltran? was that an overkill? did it affect national interest when she sued him for libel?

jr_lad wrote on February 25, 2006 - 9:08 pm | Visit Link

Marching with the Martial vulutres in Ayala. Inanak nyang tunay! Diosco, eh nagpepray ng rosary daw sa Ayala to celebrate the People Power. Cory is a very epitome of a leader who trampled the Legacy of peopel power Spirit.

The true spirit of Peopel Power like so many of my freinds stay away from the celebration precisely because of teh mockery that Cory is doing with Peopel Power!

At bakit kasi di pa aminin ni FVR that his change to make this country “great” ay tapos na. Give change to others. Eh dami dami pang atat na atat mag presidente eh etong si FVR namn gusto nakikipagsabayan pa t gusto pang bumalik sa pwesto!

ryebosco, you are too naive. It is quite obvious why she is doing all this.

Zir,

There’s never been an intention to suppress any views here. I was just as surprised to find that a lot of the comments have been ending up in the spam digest for the past couple of days. I’ve already recovered all the legitimate ones (meaning non-spam) and will continue to do so as the case arises. But do please bear with me. I am only human. I also have to sleep. :-)
