SHE REALLY was a martyr in anyone's book or measure. The only hope of mitigating, if not totally eliminating, the corruptions in the Philippines is to have as many heroes like her to step in place and force these parasites out of our society.

MIKE ELIOT

DEAR MS. Sheila Coronel,

Marlene is the quintessential Filipino, a class by herself, not only for her spectacular contribution to graft-busting, but also for the brave role she played in the field of "activist" community journalism.

I do not know her but her passion for redress of wrongs will forever be remembered. She never surrendered her values and principles in the midst of an apparently terrifying writing and physical environment that she chose to live in.

If only to prove that a "pen is still mightier than the sword", I hope a movie is made of her colorful — sartorially or otherwise — life. She was a Bonnie Parker in reverse.

How old is/are the child/ren? Please provide us with her family's home address. We want to know more about the plight of her orphaned family. I never thought Marlene's kind of a crusader (a part-time Tupperware sales lady, oh my God) exists in the Philippines, especially in the countryside where I'm sure the practice of investigative journalism is not good for the journalist's health, as opposed to the advantage enjoyed by your fiery/hard-hitting Manila columnists who are already rich and surrounded by bodyguards - provided by themselves or the government, I suppose.

I hope the life of Marlene will not be wasted in vain.

Very truly yours,

Mike Eliot

IS THERE anything I could do to continue the work of Marlene? Please let me know.

NSALEJANDRINO

THIS IS sad. Something ought to be done. The killers of Marlene and all other citizens who tried to better our world all met violent death. If no one will do what they did, what will become of this country? We should declare war on corruption. The government ought to led, if it can't, somebody has to.

it's sad to hear stories like this. Another unsung hero died. Everyone is so used to this as if nothing had happen. I believe that there is an end to this. I have faith in God that justice will be given for vengeance is in the Lord. I pray that God will comfort those that Marlene left behind. May her crusades continue till it's finished. God bless.

ADONIS PARIS

DEAR EDITOR,

My associates are now in the process of long term project to rid the Philippines of corruptions.

Two to three years from now, corrupters will see cruise missile landing in their backyard. Their time is running out. If law cannot get them the technology and our brain will.
